Apprenticeship Wage, National Minimum Wage and National Living Wage will increase in 2025.

In a significant move aimed at boosting workers' incomes, Chancellor Rachel Reeves announced today a substantial increase in the National Living Wage and National Minimum Wage. These changes will come into effect from April 2025.

The Apprenticeship Wage will increase next year. The minimum hourly wage for apprentices will be increased. For example, an 18-year-old apprentice in industries like construction will see their minimum hourly pay rise by 18%, from £6.40 to £7.55 per hour.

The National Living Wage, will increase to £12.21 per hour. This is a significant increase of 6.7% and will benefit millions of workers across the UK.

The National Minimum Wage for 18-20 year-olds will also increase significantly, rising to £10 per hour. This represents a 16.3% increase and will provide a much-needed boost to young workers' incomes.

The government hopes that these increases will help to alleviate the cost-of-living crisis and improve standards of living for millions of people.

Employers are required to pay apprentices aged 16-18 at least the apprentice minimum wage. For apprentices aged 19 or over in their first year of apprenticeship, the same minimum wage applies. Following the completion of their first year, apprentices aged over 19 should receive at least the national minimum wage or the national living wage, depending on their age.
